Guest Bedroom Breakdown

Friends, if you are reading this post, that means the guest room has been revealed in some shape and form. It turned out even better than expected. All of the details came together perfectly, and I couldn’t be any happier. I want to make sure that I break it all down for you.

Before we get into all the current details, let’s go back in time. This room was beige like the rest of the house. We didn’t do anything to it the entire time we have lived in the house besides making sure it was nice for my oldest son who resided in this space. Everything pretty much was the same color from the carpet, the walls, and the furniture. The ceiling fan was the only item that was ever changed out in this room. It went from a white ceiling fan to a black one. The room was just boring and lacked character.

I knew once our son moved out that a hotel boutique inspired guestroom would soon evolve.

So as you can see, the room was in a desperate need need of a complete makeover. It was lacking all things pleasing to take in. Basically it was just a place to lay down but not a space that you wanted to lounge in.

I decided to paint it a dark blue color to make it moody, but I needed something else to make this room pop. In order to give it some much needed character, I decided on this beautiful, bold graphic wallpaper. It speaks to you as soon as you walk in the room. After these simple yet impactful changes, I brought in a new gold bed and rug. I also decided to repurpose the dressers by staining it a beautiful walnut color to warm the space up. The final pieces to add was updating the lighting and bold art work. Since I wanted this space to feel like a hotel boutique, I needed a place to sit. In came, this beautiful West Elm swivel chair. All of these elements added together was the perfect makeover that my guest would love to be in.

I chose the light fixture to add additional visual interest and the brass finish plays well with the gold in the wallpaper. It works with the other metal elements in the space. I only needed one night stand in this space. This beautiful gray and brass nightstand was used from a client’s project. In came in damaged, and we had to have it replaced. I’m so glad that I decided to keep one of them and use it in this space. It’s perfect for this room’s color story.

Lastly, I brought in some styling elements to pull the room together. No room is complete without the bells and whistles. Vases, wooden chains, books, and of course greenery makes the room sing. I’m not sure what made me wait so long to makeover this room, but I’m so glad that I finally did it.

Check out the room for yourself, and let me know what you think!! I believe I understood the assignment.
