To Read or To Decorate

Hey friends!!! It’s no secret that I love coffee table books. I’ve stated this many times before. I know you are like, girl we already know. LOL!! Well, do you know how to style them in your space. If not, I’m here to tell you how.

The golden rule is to group them in odd numbers such as 3, 5, etc. Well, I typically follow this rule, but at times I deviate from the rule. However, if you look at this picture above, it is in odd numbers. I have two books and a dish which makes 3. In the other stack, I have 4 books and a statue which makes 5. So, I guess I do follow the rules after all.

You should find books that are interesting to you or books that have a similar color story that you want to use. I usually take the covers off my books if the hard cover looks better. I have found that the hard cover of the book’s color is just right. It’s really up to you if you want the cover on or off. Next, you want to find decorative accessories to place on top of your stack of books. You can use a bowl, statues, plants, artwork, beads, jewelry box, or candles.

You can lay books horizontally or vertically on a bookcase to allow for interest. You don’t want your bookcase to be boring or be one dimensional.  You can stand them up with nice book ends or have some books straight and one book leaning. Then, place a vase or other accessories in front of it. You can style them on a coffee table and even open one of the books to display. If you have a square table, you want to group your books in a quadrant and if its a circle table, group your items in a triangle. This will add balance to your table.

I even used my Dissertation book as part of my bookcase styling. Why not?? Any book can be used and styled in your space. They don’t all have to coffee table books. They can also be novels that you are currently reading or have read. You can style them on your night stand with a candle on it or a plant.
