Living Room Refresh Reveal

This refresh reveal has taken way too long!! I’m thrilled that I am finally at a point where I’m ready to share it with you. Guess what, it’s not 100% finished either. Oh well, it is what it is in this new climate we are living in. Everything takes ages to get delivered nowadays. Anyway, enough about that. You are here to see this space.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. When we first moved in, this room was all neutral. Actually, the entire house was a flat beige color. It has a beautiful bay window, and it gets pretty good natural light. The ceilings are about 20 feet high, which makes the room feel very big and open.

As you can see this space was very plain and void of character. Everything blended in, with a ton of family photos, too many pillows, and the overall style was all over the place. This was at a point where I was learning and figuring out my personal aesethetic. It functioned as we needed it to and only needed to be updated. The beige walls had to go.

In came the first refresh, where I only changed out a few elements. I knew I wanted to go bold in this space and really bring it to life, so in walked Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black which is my favorite black right now. I got the room including the chair railing painted Tricorn Black and left the window trim, fireplace trim, and stairway trim all white. I absolutely feel in love with all the black on the walls. It gave the room the character that I so desperately wanted in this house and definitely in this space. I updated my coffee table and the entry way sofa table by painting the wooden base black. I took away some pillows, added some artwork, a new lamp, and coffee table décor to round out the space.

Although the black on the walls were just want I wanted, I was never satisfied with the space. I didn’t like that I kept the trim white, and I hated my matching furniture. This furniture was purchased in an emergency when we were hosting a brunch, but I never liked it. However, It was much better than the furniture that we moved in with and it was so reasonable at the time of purchase. Well let’s just say, this space wasn’t living up to my vision.

In the latest refresh, I decided to get rid of some of the furniture, replaced the light fixtures, upgraded the coffee table, replaced the sofa table, changed out the two benches, painted the white areas black, added floating shelves, and additional artwork.

The door trim, the window trim, and the fireplace including the mantle got a coat or two of the Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. This fire place is soooooo good friends. I added a gold Crate & Barrel Lana Fireplace Screen. The two benches were changed out for these beautiful Frances and Son Mid Century Hand Cane Jeanerret Armchairs. I also changed out the floor lamp for this West Elm Curvilinear Mid-Century 3-Light Floor Lamp.

Although, I liked my glass table, this room desperately needed this Aurelle Home Modern Large Round Camel Bone Veneer Coffee Table. I wanted this space to have patterns and this coffee table gives me everything I didn’t know I needed.

The loveseat and chair was replaced with two black Article Sven Black Chairs. They are oversized and so soft and comfortable. I literally sit in them for hours. One of my favorite artist Monica Lewis had to make this gallery wall. I added 3 more of her artwork under my larger Danny Broadway painting.

I quickly grew tired of the bookcase that was originally here, so we changed them out for floating shelves that we did ourselves. I completely styled these shelves differently from the bookcase. The bookcase had personal pictures of my family which I love to see, but I didn’t want that this time around. I styled it with some of my favorite items like these Calligraphy brushes that I talked about in my previous post. I added some additional Monica Lewis artwork and Tierradellagarto Bone Inlay Pencil Box and Marble Star Bowl.

I brought in my stool from the patio for an additional side table in this space. I added coffee table books, a Brown Horned Calligraphy Brush, and a Dyphor New York Onyx Candle Holder.

Finally, I layered each area of this space which is my jam and of course plants were added into the equation.

There are some additional items that didn’t quite make it to this post, but please know I will share that all with you very soon.
