Shopping Spree Sundays: Light the Way

Happy Shopping Spree Sundays!!! Although, there is a lot going on in our world with the Black Lives Matter movement. A movement that is definitely long overdue. I committed myself to complete the Shopping Spree Sundays on my blog each Sunday, so I want to honor my commitment. Just as there are lights (leaders in the BLM movement) leading the way, lamps play a similar role. They light the way throughout your space. If its dark in your home, you often turn on a lamp so that you can see the path in which you are moving in.

There are no two lamps alike. Lamps come in a variety of shapes, colors, textures, material, heights, and widths. Lamps can be used to add height to your space, add to the wall, or to fill a corner. They are used to illuminate your room to brighten it up and can be used as art.

If you have items on a table that is similar in height and width, then add a lamp for dimension. You don’t want your space to be one-dimensional. Lamps add to the ambiance and design aesthetic of the room.

Floor lamps are great to add to an empty space such as a corner beside a couch. You can use them on a credenza, sofa table, night stands, and end tables. They can be placed on bookcases, on desks, on a bar, or a counter.

As you can see in the image from Vogue Room, lamps can have texture to it. Texture and pattern gives your space some character. It could be a conversation starter. Floor lamps can be used as a nightstand lamp as Alvin Wayne above did over his non-traditional bar cart night stand. Lamps don’t always have to have a base. For example, the ones below are hung from the ceiling. Lamps can also be your wall sconces. Place your sconces on each side of a piece of art or mirror. However, you decide to use lamps, please use a variety of them for a more layered effect. If you have sconces on the wall, then you can also have a end table lamp in close proximity to it. Additionally, a lamp can be placed in front of a mirror or layered in front of a piece of artwork.

These lamps from l to r: World Market, Target, Crate and Barrel, Lamps Plus, and West Elm.

Happy shopping for a variety of new lamps for your space. Please come back to check out next week’s Shopping Spree Sundays.
